Sushi-geta, or simply geta, is a term used in Japanese sushi dining for the wooden tray on which sushi is served. Because their shape resembles traditional Japanese wooden sandals, these trays are commonly used to present sushi. The sandals, also called geta 下駄, are made of wood and have two raised teeth that lift them off the ground. They are a traditional form of Japanese footwear and were historically worn by both men and women. In sushi restaurants, geta wooden trays help present sushi in an appetizing and appealing way.
